I'm sitting on the floor, watching Stella wipe her nose over and over again with a saline wipe. Rick is half-dozing a few feet away. We are winding down, having survived another family Thanksgiving, with all the noise and craziness and wonderful togetherness that ties and binds and sometimes annoys...I'm thankful for family, far and near.
We did a little art project today - I showed the kids how to do rubbings of leaves, on which they wrote for what they were thankful, and attached them to a paper tree drawing Rick concocted. We were thankful for Grace, for Jesus, for leaves and our puppy dogs. One niece wrote she was thankful for her sister ("sometimes"), a nephew was thankful for Love. Rick was thankful for whipped cream. We were all thankful for being together, to share a meal that was fussed over with love, at several tables because there's just too many of us for one normal table, and isn't that wonderful in itself? I hope you have days like this, my dear Internets, ordinary blended with realization of how the "ordinary" isn't so common, but precious. Happy Thanksgiving.
